If you put a gun to my head & asked me to choose my favourite dish.. I'll ask you to give me some time to think about it.One day later I'll probably tell you just shoot me lah I really can't choose. They're all so good.I'm a little baffled by how much I enjoyed what I had. Mod-sin cuisine A MODern take on SINgaporean cuisine. The authenticity of Singaporean elements remain, while the modern, meaningful twists truly shine. A fine balance to maintain & The Kongsee does it well.Detailed reviews can be found on Burpple or my Instagram account @wobblethebui, because cumulatively they are too lengthy to post here.Special mention to the new lunch menus, served Thu - Sat. For people like me who don't work in the CBD area.. I'm glad there's a weekend option For 29.90, you get a 3-course set meal: Starter main dish dessert. We tried the Black Angus Ramly Burger (26 a la carte; so you can see how the set meal is such a steal).Featured photos:Skewers are prepared fresh daily, & grilled over binchōtan charcoal. Giving a 5 as there's no 4.5, but if there was that'd be my rating.[Food]Rather than exciting, Kongsee goes for what works and is comforting. Alone, the food may seem unexiciting for the gastronomically adventurous, but it's important to keep in mind that this is a bar that has 20 beers and drinks on tap. All the food taste their best when paired with beers. As such some dishes, like the tandoori and the ibérico skewers were more heavily seasoned. The standout for us was the barramundi ceviche with a savory ice cream, it was unique and not what you'll normally find. For beer bites, the fried squid and fried chickens were the most satisfying. We had the chance to try the wagyu donburi, which we were told is served at full size for lunch. Something we can be tempted to return for, with the rice spiced with herbs to offset the rich flavors of the beef.[Drinks]Their impressive beer on tap are mostly local brews, all well-done and goes great with the food. Cocktails are also creative asian takes on classics. We only had the puer spritz, in which we didn't taste much puer, but it was light refreshing drink, if a tad sweet.[Atmosphere and service]Ultimately, dining out is about atmosphere and service. And this is where I'm happy to give Kongsee a 5/5. The people are warm, decor considered (it's hard to resist the urge to pocket their absolutely adorable chopstick holder). Coupled with the vibrant hip hop and house driven music choices, it's a lovely place for dates, post-work hangouts or chilling with friends.

Have been here three times and food is consistently good, especially the Iberico Pork and Barramundi Ceviche are must orders. Also love the Kaya Churros.Portions are tapas style, mostly for sharing. Good place to chill with friends, especially if you're hosting guests from overseas.Service is generally attentive - most of the staff have a genuine interest in making sure customers are happy. Shout out to Russ, April and Kelvin!

Visited on 20 March 2023 for dinner after hearing that it was newly added to the AMEX Love Dining Programme. My wife and I were impressed by the quality of the food and service here, and the level of thoughtfulness and detail behind each dish. We had the pleasure of meeting the restaurant manager (Kelvin) who took time to share with us the inspiration behind their concept - eg. their modern/Asian take on Tapas, bringing people together through foodWould highly recommend if you’re looking for a place in CBD to chill after work!

Everything we ordered are great, with a lovely fusion balance, not easy to achieve.Barramundi ceviche is perfect to start with.Iberico satay and krapow prata suits my taste, very savory.Crab cake topped with fish roe and Thai style soupy sauce.Kongsee Fried Chicken (KFC) definitely beats the other KFC, very tender, crisp, with good spices.Kaya ice cream tastes like frozen creamy Kaya, got an urge to spread them over some toast! Thanks also to Kelvin and team for the warm service. Interesting to hear from Kelvin on the dish origins and thought process in forming them.If you are using amex love dining be sure to check first on which dishes qualify.

The place was filled with red lights which was too striking for us but the food was pretty decent and free flow alcohol on Tuesday is perfect to try all the drinks. They were really nice to give us some free dishes and drinks upon knowing that it was my friend's birthday. Pleasant experience and I will return.

This is not just a watering hole, it has a more than decent menu. Ordered a couple of sharing plates namely crab cake and grilled beef. Also couldn't resist brussel sprouts.Let's start with the beef, doneness came as recommended which was excellent, paired with mushrooms, kelp and a sauce. The kelp acts as a palate cleanser for me, doesn't really go well eaten with beef but gives a good clean if I want to move onto other dishes.Brussel sprouts was a creative one as it was done the masala way. We liked it! A change finally from all other places which serve it w bacon.Crab cake blew our minds, came with a savoury coconut broth, a Thai twist to it. Crab cakes were very well done with the correct amount of moisture inside. Try taking every bite of crab cake and broth, best combination ever.
